Inside the survey’s 11 proposed classes

From a mech-based Tinker to a Bard and San'layn: what the circulated survey pages actually describe, the missing Warden kit and why proposals are not launch classes.

An explanation of circulated survey pages covered in our October 4 episode. These are proposed kits reported by recipients, not an official announcement that the classes will be added.

What the leaked pages can tell us

Survey photos circulating in late September describe eleven possible classes for Forever. Recipients said the survey arrived through Battle.net and asked about recent Classic play. The photos show a repeated page structure: lore, roles, equipment and three example abilities with costs and cooldowns.

That is useful material for understanding concepts Blizzard may have been testing with respondents. It does not establish a development commitment, a launch roster or final ability tuning. The article follows the pages as presented in our finished October 4 episode and keeps their gaps visible.

Death Knight, Demon Hunter and Monk lose familiar tools

The proposed Death Knight begins at level 1 and keeps runes and Runic Power, with Icy Touch, Plague Strike and Death Coil as examples. Its page removes familiar tools including Death Grip, Army of the Dead, Death Strike, Death and Decay and Pestilence. It wears plate and lists tanking and melee damage.

Demon Hunter is presented as a leather tank or melee class using Fury. Double Jump, Glide, Fel Rush and Vengeful Retreat are absent from this proposal. Chaos Strike and Demon Blades remain, while the example Metamorphosis jumps into combat and briefly stuns up to four enemies. Importing the name would not mean importing the retail mobility kit.

Monk lists tank, healer and melee damage, with Energy and Chi in its resource field. Jab, Blackout Kick and Surging Mist appear, but Roll, Stagger, Provoke, Spinning Crane Kick and Chi Burst are removed. Surging Mist separately lists a Mana cost, showing why a short resource summary cannot resolve every detail of the proposed implementation.

Tinker and Necromancer build around machines and minions

Tinker fights from a talent-upgraded mech in mail armour. Fatal damage ejects the pilot, who has to repair the machine before returning. Its listed roles are tank, ranged damage and support. Rocket Assault costs 60 Energy, while Supply Drop sends three drones carrying healing and buffs. Wrenches appear in its weapon list.

Necromancer is a cloth caster built around corpses. Raise Dead revives a fallen enemy for five minutes, with up to six controlled at once in the example. Corpse Explosion can consume a corpse or one of the Necromancer's minions for nearby Shadow damage. These samples suggest an emphasis on what is available in the environment; they do not provide enough of a kit to prescribe a rotation.

San'layn has a risky bite; Warden has an incomplete page

San'layn is presented as an undead elf using blood magic, with plate armour and tank, melee and ranged roles. Blood Bolt costs 5% of base health and returns health equal to 10% of its damage. Blood Mirror redirects 30% of incoming damage to an enemy in melee range for ten seconds.

Vampiric Bite supplies the memorable tradeoff: 20% more attack speed and healing equal to 20% of damage for fifteen seconds. If the target survives until the effect ends, it receives the same benefit. That is the concept's stated risk, not a claim about how it would perform in a finished duel.

Warden is described as an order associated with Elune and Night Elf jailers, opened to other races out of necessity. Tank and melee roles are legible. However, the adjacent panel repeats San'layn information in the circulated copy. Assigning those abilities to Warden would turn a document error into a fabricated kit.

Bard and Witch offer very different support ideas

Bard lists support and healer, wearing leather and attacking while playing. Heroic Saga increases party attack and casting speed by 5% for thirty seconds. Ballad of Beauty heals the party over thirty seconds and removes a poison or disease every three seconds. Both songs can stack three times. Musical instruments appear as weapons, and Mesmerize offers breakable control against humanoids or dragonkin.

Witch is a cloth ranged/support concept drawing on several magical traditions. Some spells spend health: Voidbolt costs 5% of base health, with a killing blow returning five times that cost, while Blood Golem uses 20%. Its pre-fight Cauldron of Menace lets an ally gain 20% damage dealt at the price of 10% more damage taken, once per fight. That is a stated risk-reward example, not a complete support system.

Illusionist tricks and the Rune Knight naming mismatch

Illusionist is a leather caster using copies and deception. Prismatic Bolt hits with a random element and may create a Mirror Image; Shell Game exchanges the caster's place with an image. Phantasmic Creature starts with three fragile murloc illusions, while fighting unfamiliar creature types can unlock other copies.

The final concept is called Rune Knight in one copy and Metalborn in another; its lore uses Runemaster. Treat those names as versions of one concept. It wears mail, uses rune pairs and Runic Power, and lists tank, healer and melee roles. Iron Fist reduces armour, Silvered Wind freezes an enemy for fifteen seconds, and Reconstruct heals an ally.

What the role labels mean — and what earlier surveys prove

Across the eleven pages, seven concepts list Tank, three Healer and three Support. Those categories overlap. Bard lists only Support and Healer, although its description allows attacks; absence of a Damage role label does not mean it deals no damage. Support appears as a distinct survey label, which is narrower than claiming support gameplay has never existed in WoW.

Five names also appeared in a translated survey shared in December 2024: Tinker, Bard, Witch, Necromancer and Warden. A Classic survey shared in June 2025 asked about account progression, an elf-like race on both factions and new race/class combinations. Later Forever announcements overlap with those themes. That does not demonstrate that the survey caused the announced features, or that every remaining proposal will follow them.

7Tank concepts
3Healer concepts
3Support concepts

Eleven concepts total; a class may list multiple roles.

Use this as a design discussion, not a launch choice

The interesting question is which ideas fit Forever's pace and group play: a mech that needs repair, corpse-based minions, stacking songs or health-funded spells. The pages show enough to discuss those directions, but not enough to rank balanced final classes.

For a character you can actually plan, use the current class journals and talent calculator. The proposed classes belong in a separate conversation until an official announcement establishes what, if anything, is being built.
